Good Shepherd is delighted to be back at Wolverhampton Art Gallery for Friday Lates celebrating Recovery Month 2026.
Since 2019, the Good Shepherd has partnered with SUIT, Recovery Near You and Wolverhampton 360 to showcase the talents and testimonies of those in recovery. Alongside supporting recovery, the Good Shepherd mission is to end homelessness and create pathways out of poverty.
Our recovery art group is open to people impacted by addiction, mental health issues and homelessness. As part of the takeover, we have a pop-up gallery in the Georgian Gallery, showcasing some of the work created in our Arts Council funded workshops, mentoring programme and creative drop-in sessions.
On the night there are free workshops for all the family. These workshops are the perfect opportunity to embrace art and community, with no art background necessary.
Fantastic Ekphrastic is a guided activity to create poetic responses to our pop-up gallery, led by Emma Purshouse, former poet laureate for the city of Wolverhampton. Please arrive promptly to sign up for this workshop as there are limited places.
Mini Me: Miniature Portrait Drawing workshop led by artist, Hannah Boyd-McKee.
Rockdoves and Masks is a painting and making workshop led by artists Bag Lord and Corey Savannah.
More Trees Please is a mixed media workshop led by artist botanist, Vowsie Moonhouse. Join Vowsie and artists in recovery to creatively campaign for a greener city.
Friday is also the launch weekend of Sustainable Fashion Week and we’re thrilled to be sharing the gallery takeover with Reinvntd CIC. Their panel discussion is inspired by the Gallery’s Pop Art collection, fashion sustainability, and will be looking at the role of artists, designers, businesses and communities in creating change.
Opportunities to network and be a part of a future textile installation are taking place in the Georgian Gallery.
