Patron

Robert Plant CBE

Legendary singer/songwriter Robert Plant CBE has been a long-time supporter of the work of the Good Shepherd, and has stepped up his backing of the charity to become a patron. His support includes the creation of a trainee scheme offering two paid trainee roles within the organisation for people with lived experience of homelessness and other issues.

Our Ambassadors

Former Wolves/Nigeria Goal Keeper

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nigeria international goalkeeper Carl Ikeme became the Good Shepherd’s first ambassador following many years of support. Starting with serving food during player visits from Wolves, he continued to champion the charity through regular visits and donations, he said:

“It is the people behind the scenes at the Good Shepherd who do all the work and keep this place running – they are the real stars.

“I’m just honoured to be a part of what they are doing and try and promote the charity and help them get donations and support.”

Singer/Songwriter

Jacki Graham is a renowned soul singer with a career spanning decades. Based in Wolverhampton, she is a long‑standing supporter of the Good Shepherd and a passionate advocate for its work, she said:

“I know it can sometimes be difficult for people to share their problems but here at the Good Shepherd you have people who can really help and I will do anything I can to spread that message.

“The people here understand what is going on and they can provide help without judging anyone, and if I can play any part in that then I will always love to do it.”

BBC Broadcaster and event host

Natalie Graham is a presenter on BBC WM and BBC Across The Midlands and manager of Jaki Graham. Still based in Wolverhampton, she is a long-standing supporter of the Good Shepherd, dating back to its old premises on Darlington Street, she said:

“I think the Good Shepherd is an incredible charity involving an incredible group of people who genuinely want to help and make a difference.

“Whatever I can do to help I can, and the more that I can get involved in, the better.”

Archbishop of Birmingham

The Most Rev Bernard Longley, Archbishop of Birmingham is a long‑standing supporter of the Good Shepherd. Our shared values around care, compassion and hospitality very much link into the work which Archbishop Bernard also delivers on a daily basis.

“At a time when all sectors of society are struggling to make ends meet it is wonderful to see the friendship and support that Good Shepherd staff, volunteers and service-users generously and readily offer.

“The Good Shepherd reaches out to those who most deserve our love and support – those who are most in need.”

Comedian

Jack, most well-known for his Gary Powndland character, is a proud Wulfrunian born and bred in the Scotlands. He supports and promotes the work of the Good Shepherd in helping people across the local community, he said:

“I have lived in Wolverhampton all my life and I know of people who have needed to use the services of the Good Shepherd.”

“I am really honoured to have been asked to become an ambassador and look to do whatever I can to support the charity.”

Photographer

It is over ten years since Stuart first started supporting the Good Shepherd with his photography, capturing the stories of the Good Shepherd’s service users, staff and volunteers. He has continued to volunteer his skills to the benefit of the charity, raise awareness and support fundraising activities, he said:

“Ever since that time that I saw the queue (at Darlington Street), I just wanted to try and help in some small way using my photography, getting along to the charity whenever I can, away from the ‘day job’.

“It was a lovely honour to be asked as ambassador, and if I can continue to use my skills to help the Good Shepherd with their incredible work then that is good enough for me.”

Gareth Jones

Gareth Jones is the Managing Director of In‑Comm Training and the Good Shepherd’s first Business Ambassador. Following his own mental health challenges, he now champions and fundraises for the charity, supporting others on their recovery journeys, he said:

“I’m Wolverhampton born and bred and know some of the people supported by the Good Shepherd. When backing a local charity you get to see the impact, meet the people and make a noticeable difference.”
