Vicky’s Story: From Lost To Found

Vicky is one of the many volunteers who play a major part in the life of the Good Shepherd as part of the LEAP programme, where people with lived experience of homelessness and other challenges support the charity’s service-users who are going through similar experiences.  At the same time they can also benefit from different training opportunities with a view to ultimately finding long-term employment.

This is Vicky’s story.

*

My journey with LEAP started in September 2023, three years after I had found my faith in Christ.

I was going through a very rough patch in life, from going through a drug addiction for 15 years to many other challenging battles.

LEAP is giving me my confidence and motivation back to want to look for future employment.

The learning opportunities with LEAP are endless and the work experience is so valuable.

I feel LEAP is putting me on the right path for a future career and I’m really excited to see what the future holds but at the moment I’m happy being a member of the team and excited to see how I can progress.

I went from being lost to being found.
