Volunteer Focus: Pat

As part of Volunteer’s Week (Monday 2nd – Sunday 8th June) we’d like to recognise and celebrate our amazing volunteers by focusing on their stories. By giving their time and skills, they help us to support some of the most disadvantaged people in Wolverhampton.

We asked Pat the following questions:

What do you do at the Good Shepherd?

I help with food prep for the lunchtime service. I have worked in the dining room, waited tables and served drinks to the clients. I have also spent time working at the Community Shop in the city centre.

Why did you decide to volunteer and how long have you been volunteering?

I decided to volunteer when I retired to contribute in some small way to help those less fortunate. I have now been a volunteer for approximately 18 months.

What do you find the most fulfilling about volunteering here?

The most fulfilling aspect is that I am utilising my time well and I know it’s appreciated. I also enjoy the camaraderie and work-place environment of the Good Shepherd.

Why do you feel the work of the Good Shepherd is important in Wolverhampton?

The work the Good Shepherd does provides vital support to vulnerable people whilst also offering them a sense of community

Describe the Good Shepherd in three words?

Caring inclusive and inspirational.
