Wendy used the Good Shepherd’s family food pantry service for 4 months whilst she was experiencing a financially difficult time.
Wendy ran a Jamaican food stall in Concord Market in Sedgley. However, in January 2025 the market permanently closed, and unfortunately Wendy lost her stall and with it her financial stability.
“Financially this was a big disaster for me, as I was left unable to do all the things I used to.”
Wendy found it difficult to manage everyday expenses like food, gas, and electricity. During this time, she sought help and was referred to the Good Shepherd’s family food pantry service. A weekly referral-based service that provides families with fresh produce, pantry staples, and toiletries to help people experiencing difficulties.

“The Good Shepherd helped me with food for up to 4 months, when I was out of work. Until I finally found a job in McDonald’s Wolverhampton City Centre, as a team member.”
Wendy has now just finished a Level 3 care course with Wolverhampton College and is looking for employment in Community Care.
“If I didn’t have the help and support from the Good Shepherd, I don’t know what I would have done. But thank God for the Good Shepherd and their support and brilliant staff.”
